Gingivitis is the mildest and most common form of periodontal (gum) disease. It causes the gums to become red, swollen, and prone to bleeding, often without significant discomfort. Most cases are the result of poor oral hygiene and, fortunately, gingivitis is reversible with timely professional care and consistent oral hygiene at home.

Several factors may contribute to the development of gingivitis, including diabetes, smoking, aging, genetic predisposition, systemic health conditions, stress, poor nutrition, hormonal changes (such as during puberty or pregnancy), substance abuse, HIV infection, and certain medications (AAP).

If you’re experiencing symptoms or have concerns about your gum health, we’re here to help. Contact us at 705-741-1885 for more information or to schedule a consultation.
