Many patients are surprised to learn they grind at night until they notice the signs. Watch for:
Flattened, chipped, or worn-down teeth
Frequent headaches or jaw soreness, especially in the morning
Earaches or tightness in the jaw muscles
Increased tooth sensitivity
Notching near the gumline (known as “abfraction lesions”)
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to schedule an exam. A periodontist can help determine if your gum recession is related to grinding or another underlying issue.
