Many patients are surprised to learn they grind at night until they notice the signs. Watch for:

  • Flattened, chipped, or worn-down teeth

  • Frequent headaches or jaw soreness, especially in the morning

  • Earaches or tightness in the jaw muscles

  • Increased tooth sensitivity

  • Notching near the gumline (known as “abfraction lesions”)

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to schedule an exam. A periodontist can help determine if your gum recession is related to grinding or another underlying issue.
