We lose teeth for many reasons, including falls, accidents and sports-related injuries. Most of the time, it’s due to poor dental health. Here are some tips on how to keep your natural teeth in good condition, whatever your age:
Brush your teeth first thing in the morning and before bedtime and floss at least once a day.
Limit the amount of sugar you consume. If you drink pop or alcohol and smoke (tobacco, marijuana, vaping), try to cut back if you can’t quit.
Stay hydrated with water. Sipping water throughout the day will help keep your mouth moist and wash away food and drink residue and cavity-causing bacteria. It will also help offset dry mouth that can happen from some medications.
Visit your dentist/periodontist for regular cleanings and check-ups. They can spot things you can’t and treat problems before they get worse.
