Book a Dental Check-up/Exam
As summer holidays start and we are planning our vacations it is important to remember to get a dental check up before flying off to another country. You’ll have peace of mind, and your dentist will have the most up-to-date information on your teeth, including x-rays.
Dental Emergencies While on Holidays
Be sure to have your dentists phone number with you and contact them if you or your child is having a dental problem. Some dental emergencies can be solved over the phone and your dentist can advise you if you should see a dentist right away or wait till you get back.
Dental Emergencies Overseas
Have the number for the local consulate or Canadian embassy with you. If a dental emergency happens it would be a good idea to call them and ask for a recommendation of a dentist that they use.
Did you forget your toothbrush?
If you are temporarily without a toothbrush be sure to rinse vigorously with water to wash away some of that cavity-causing bacteria. If you have your toothpaste you can put some on a clean washcloth or your finger to brush. If you get a chance to purchase a toothbrush make sure it is a soft one.
Water safety in other countries.
There are some countries where the water supply may be compromised so when in doubt always brush with bottled water.
